Hit
In casino games, particularly in blackjack, the term “Hit” refers to a player’s decision to take an additional card from the dealer in hopes of improving their hand. This move is made when the player believes their current hand total is too low to compete with the dealer’s potential hand. However, hitting is a calculated risk: while it can bring the player closer to a winning total of 21, it also increases the chance of “busting,” or exceeding 21, which results in an automatic loss. Understanding when to hit or hold (stand) is a key strategy in blackjack, balancing the odds of improving your hand against the risk of going bust.
